Our People : Jacquelyn Ryan
Avid reader and Gin connoisseur, Jacquelyn Ryan, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Cosmetics Division with ChemSpec shares some of her great experiences over the last year.
Introduce yourself...When and why did you join ChemSpec? What made you consider joining us?
My name is Jacquelyn Ryan, and I am the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Cosmetics Division with ChemSpec. I have a technical background with a degree in chemistry and over a decade of experience in R&D. I moved from R&D to sales several years ago and absolutely love the transition. I joined ChemSpec at the beginning of 2022 with the opportunity to continue to grow the business. I ultimately joined ChemSpec for the culture and the alignment with my values.
What is something curious or funny we should know about you? (your hobbies, passions, etc.)
I am an avid reader, a gin connoisseur, and an animal lover. A fun fact about me is that I played Quidditch in college. (yes, the Harry Potter quidditch!)
What is your favourite story from your time at ChemSpec?
My first sales meeting with the team was just a few months after I started, and we had a bicycle scavenger hunt around town. We laughed so hard as we attempted to ride these bicycles when most of us had not ridden in over 10 years. The saying, it is just like riding a bike, is not as easy as everyone says it is! We made it through the scavenger hunt, and of course, my team won!
What is the one main takeaway candidate wanting to join ChemSpec should know and look forward to?
The people are amazing to work with at ChemSpec. It is a small organization that supports one another. We are growing quickly and have great resources from our parent organization, Safic-Alcan. I have made many friends since starting with ChemSpec and I know they will be lifelong friendships. The other thing to me is the growth that I have already experienced since joining the organization, which only shows me there are great things to come!
