Our People : Claire CHARLOT
Meet Claire CHARLOT, our Deputy Director from the Rubber Department as she shares her journey so far at Safic-Alcan as well as her love for running.
When and why did you join Safic-Alcan? What made you consider joining us?
After 2 years' experience in risk management for industrial companies, I joined Safic-Alcan's rubber department in May 2011 as a technical sales engineer. My introduction to Safic-Alcan occurred during my academic pursuits at IFOCA (now ELanova education). After my studies, I wanted to become a technical sales engineer. Given Safic's reputation and technical expertise, I thought one day I'd join the company. When Safic-Alcan contacted me in 2011 because they were looking for a technical sales representative, the opportunity was too good to pass up.
How did you join the Aficep, and what is your relationship with them?
Safic-Alcan has always supported Aficep; some of our employees are members. I've also been a member of the Board for many years. For some time now, the association has been reorganized and new members have joined us. We now work as a group, and we're much more efficient in the different actions we take, as well as in the various events we organize, such as the technical days. These days are essential to enable the industry to get together on specific themes, as there are very few rubber events in France. Safic-Alcan has always contributed to Aficep events by inviting its suppliers to attend, and also by participating in them.
How do experience your relationship with other collaborators, partners, principals, or customers?
At Safic-Alcan, we feel like a family. The proximity between us encourages constant exchanges on a daily basis. Being part of a caring team has enabled me to grow and develop over the years. I work closely with all the departments, which makes for fluid communication. As a sales representative, my role encompasses both customer and supplier management. This diversity of contacts represents a stimulating challenge on a daily basis. The interactions are enriching and the missions varied. Our common goal: to offer our customers the ideal solution and the necessary technical expertise.
This year, it was a real pleasure to organize our fifth technical seminar with our customers and partners. The event was warmly received and strengthened our ties with all participants.
What is something curious to know about you?
Running is my passion. I devote a lot of time to it, although it fluctuates from period to period. It's a great way for me to relax. My greatest sporting challenge was taking part in the Paris Marathon in 2016. Intense preparation over three months, but the reward was worth the effort: a well-deserved medal at the finish. Despite my desire for new challenges, juggling two young children makes my days a little too short at the moment.
How do you try to incorporate Safic values of Commitment, Differentiation, Ethics, Trust & Reliability, Sustainable Development, Teamwork, Transparency in your day-to-day work?
Safic-Alcan's values are a perfect match for my own. We are always on the lookout for innovative and sustainable solutions, which is a stimulating challenge on a daily basis. This strategic approach offers us a valuable opportunity to highlight the innovative aspect of our sector, which is crucial in the rubber industry, while strengthening our collaborative spirit within the team.
Do you have any illustrative fun/light stories to share from your time at Safic-Alcan?
Every year, I look forward to Feet Week, a special time when we all get together in a convivial atmosphere. As a competitor at heart, I particularly enjoy taking part and giving it my all, especially as it's part of a noble cause. The team photo challenge, where originality is the order of the day, remains engraved in our memories. This year, we also organized our Pink Week in collaboration with our customers and suppliers, forging links outside the strictly professional sphere. This event added an extra dimension to our relationships.
